Greece: Teenager Brutally Beaten by Underage Peers While Another Films

A shocking incident of severe assault has occurred in Heraklion, Greece, where a 15-year-old student was brutally beaten by two underage girls.

The attack took place on Saturday evening on Efesou Street. According to reports, the underage assailants, aged 14 and 16, had arranged to meet the victim, who is also 15, to resolve a dispute. However, the meeting quickly devolved into a violent physical assault, with the victim receiving numerous punches and kicks.

Disturbingly, another 15-year-old classmate was present and recorded the entire assault on her mobile phone. Witnesses reportedly described her as playing a "guiding" role, directing the two attackers during the beating.

The 15-year-old received repeated blows with fists and kicks, resulting in her being taken to the on-duty hospital.

Authorities responded swiftly, with police arresting the 14-year-old attacker and the 15-year-old who filmed the incident. The 16-year-old assailant managed to escape during the initial police response but is now being sought. The parents of the two arrested girls were also briefly detained but have since been released. Mobile phones belonging to the minors were confiscated as evidence.

The victim was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons and was later released. Hospital staff were the ones who alerted the police to the incident. The two arrested girls are expected to appear before a prosecutor today as part of the immediate legal proceedings. The case is being handled by the Heraklion Police Directorate's Office for the Protection of Minors.
