Thessaloniki: Fourth suspect testifies in fatal home attack case

A 25-year-old man, arrested in Ano Poli, Thessaloniki, is currently testifying before an investigating judge regarding a fatal attack that occurred on July 1. The incident, which involved gas canisters, targeted the home of the Nestora family and resulted in the death of Vagia Nestora. This arrest marks the fourth made by the Anti-Terrorism Service in connection with the case.

The suspect's involvement reportedly emerged during the testimony of a 24-year-old apartment owner. This owner allegedly handed over the keys to his residence, used before and after the attack, to the 25-year-old. The latter is then said to have passed the keys to a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, whom authorities identify as the individuals who carried out the fatal assault.

The 25-year-old, known to law enforcement and reportedly associated with anarchist circles, was apprehended last Thursday based on a warrant issued by the investigating judge. Prior arrests included the apartment owner and the two alleged perpetrators, both of whom have been remanded in custody following their testimonies.

Charges filed in the case are severe, including potential murder, attempted murder, participation in a terrorist organization, explosion, possession of explosives, and arson. The specific roles of each individual in these acts will be further determined during the main investigation. The case file also encompasses arson attacks on the homes of the head of the New Democracy party committee in Thessaloniki and a former member of parliament on the same day.
