Greek Cabinet to meet Thursday to discuss road safety, recovery fund, and new legislation

The Greek Cabinet is set to convene on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Maximos Mansion, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The meeting's agenda is packed with significant policy discussions and legislative proposals aimed at addressing various national priorities.

Key presentations will include updates on road safety initiatives and policy outcomes, to be delivered by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrisochoidis, the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of State Akis Skertsos, and Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Giorgos Kotitsas. Additionally, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, will provide an update on the implementation progress of the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

The agenda also features a presentation by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, on the approval of the National Water Strategy. The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, will present a bill concerning the secondary use of electronic health data. Furthermore, ministers will present legislative proposals on integrating EU directives related to human trafficking and environmental protection through criminal law, as well as improving the electricity market design.

Other critical discussions include the revision of the Unified Government Policy Plan for 2026, presented by Minister of State Akis Skertsos. The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, along with Deputy Minister Nikos Tsafos, will also present proposals for the establishment and operation of a Government Committee for Nuclear Energy.
