Greek coast guard rescues 86 migrants off Ierapetra and Kaloi Limenes

Greek coast guard forces rescued 86 migrants in two separate operations in waters south of Crete, coordinated by the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Centre.

In the first operation, a coast guard patrol boat found a vessel carrying 37 people five nautical miles southwest of Ierapetra. The rescued people were safely taken to the town’s port.

In the second operation, a patrol boat located and rescued 49 migrants aboard another vessel 45 nautical miles southeast of Kaloi Limenes. They were being transported to the port there.
