Green Day Launches 24/7 YouTube Channel GDTV

Rock band Green Day has launched its own dedicated 24-hour YouTube channel, GDTV (Green Day TV), offering fans a continuous stream of content spanning their extensive career. The channel, which went live on August 6, features a diverse array of material, including music videos, live concert performances, full shows, and seldom-seen archival footage from both before and after the band's performances.

Adding a personal touch, drummer Tre Cool will host a weekly program titled "Transmission Unknown." This show will not only highlight emerging musicians he believes deserve greater recognition but will also incorporate comedic sketches, promising a blend of music discovery and humor.

The launch of GDTV arrives just ahead of the premiere of "Nimrods," the band's new comedy film. Partially inspired by Green Day's formative years on tour, the movie is set to hit theaters on August 14. The film stars Mason McNulty, Kyle Coffman, and Ryan Faust as members of a teenage band, with a supporting cast including McKenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer, and Bobby Lee.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong commented on the film's theme, stating, "You have to be a little crazy to be in a band." He elaborated, "It takes a special kind of dreamer. I remember trying to get our first gig. We were thinking, 'God, just get us out of this living room and play our first show at Gilman.'" Accompanying the film will be a soundtrack featuring "I'm Never Gonna R.I.P.," the band's first new song since their 2024 album "Saviors."
