Grigor Dimitrov Withdraws From Los Cabos Open Due to Leg Injury

Grigor Dimitrov, the 140th-ranked Bulgarian tennis player, has been forced to withdraw from the Abierto de Los Cabos tournament due to a leg injury sustained during training. The tournament organizers confirmed his withdrawal in a statement, expressing their hope for his swift return.

Dimitrov shared his disappointment on Instagram, explaining that he felt discomfort in his leg during a training session last Friday. This discomfort prevented him from practicing over the weekend. Following a medical evaluation, he was advised that rest would be the best course of action for his recovery. He conveyed his apologies to the Mexican fans, whom he was eager to play for.

The withdrawal comes as a blow to the tournament's 10th anniversary event. Dimitrov was scheduled to face France's Moïse Kouamé on Tuesday, July 28. The main draw of singles was set to commence on Monday, July 27. The event still boasts a strong lineup, including defending champion Denis Shapovalov and other international ATP players like Jiri Lehecka, Francisco Cerúndolo, Luciano Darderi, and Karen Khachanov.

Earlier in the week, Dimitrov was seen with his girlfriend, Mexican actress Eiza González, who attended his training session to show her support. The tournament's opening day will feature matches such as Gabriel Diallo vs. Tristan Boyer, Alex Hernández vs. Bernard Tomic, and Cameron Norrie vs. Aleksandar Kovacevic.
