Group demands end to checkpoint extortion and prolonged detention in southeast Nigeria

Oganihu, a non-partisan civic and socio-development platform, has called for an immediate end to alleged abuses at security checkpoints across southeast Nigeria.

The group said motorists and other people encounter extortion, harassment and prolonged detention at checkpoints. It also demanded greater accountability from security agencies and governments in the region.
