Groups Announce Rally in Support of Doctors in Pedro Juan Caballero

Young organizers and an autism advocacy group in Pedro Juan Caballero have announced a peaceful rally in support of doctors. The demonstration will take place on Friday, Sept. 4, at Pedro Juan Caballero Plaza under the slogan “Health for Everyone.”

Jóvenes Mbarete and the Association of People with Autism Spectrum Disorder TEA Amambay said the protest responds to what they described as serious failures in Paraguay’s public health system. They also expressed solidarity with doctors who are demanding better working conditions.

Nicolás Román, a leader of Jóvenes Mbarete, criticized the situation facing the health system and urged residents to join the event. Tali Silva, another member of the organizing group, made a particular appeal to young people, saying the time had come to mobilize and demand better health care.

Fany Benítez of TEA Amambay said the group was concerned that the area has only one child neurologist and that rumors suggest the specialist could also resign. The association issued a statement supporting doctors involved in the protests and condemning the lack of institutional responses to the difficult conditions in which they work.

The organizers invited the wider community to attend. The gathering is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
