GSI corrects decree that named 'Fulano' and 'Cicrano de tal' for presidential security

Brazil's Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI) issued an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union to rectify a decree that had mistakenly appointed fictional characters as assistants within the Presidential Security Secretariat. The initial decree listed "Fulano de tal" and "Cicrano de tal" – placeholder names commonly used in Portuguese – for the positions of major and lieutenant, respectively.

The correction, published on Monday, June 22, replaces the fictitious names with four qualified military personnel. The appointees include Navy Sergeants Márcio Adriano Leite, Francisco Marcone Filho, and Thiago Carneiro do Nascimento, along with Army Sergeant Beatriz Barbio. The decree was signed by Vinícius Damasceno do Nascimento, director of the GSI's management department.

These four individuals are assigned to serve as assistants in the GSI's Presidential Security Secretariat. They will be relieved of their current duties and will receive a Level IV Presidency of the Republic Representation Allowance, amounting to R$1,337.09 per month, according to the Federal Government's Institutional Organization and Innovation System (Siorg).

The GSI, a key organ within the Presidency of the Republic, provides direct assistance to the president, focusing on military and security matters. Its responsibilities include ensuring the personal safety of the president, the vice president, their families, and residences. The GSI acknowledged the error and confirmed that a correction would be made in a subsequent publication of the Official Gazette.
