Guanare River Bridge Structural Deterioration Confirmed, Collapse Risk Declared

Authorities in Venezuela's Portuguesa state have issued a preventive alert due to the evident risk of collapse facing the bridge over the Guanare River. A recent evaluation by Civil Protection and Risk Management teams identified serious structural flaws that endanger vehicular traffic.

The inspection, supported by engineer Víctor Pernalete from the Ministry of Water Attention, pinpointed the central section of the bridge as the most compromised. The assessment confirmed fractures in the expansion joints, critical components that absorb structural movement and impacts. Additionally, severe asphalt wear and the direct exposure of internal beams and materials are accelerating the bridge's deterioration.

Specialists have submitted a technical report emphasizing the urgent need for immediate intervention. The report calls for a comprehensive corrective maintenance and recovery plan to address the identified issues.
