Guilherme Derrite Registers Senate Candidacy in SP, Declares Assets 148% Higher Than in 2022

Guilherme Derrite, a federal deputy and former Secretary of Public Security for São Paulo, has officially registered his candidacy for the Senate with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The registration revealed a significant increase in his declared assets, which now stand at R$ 2.02 million, a 148% jump from the R$ 812,700 he declared in 2022 when running for the Chamber of Deputies.

Derrite's declared wealth includes R$ 1.2 million in real estate. He also reported R$ 638,100 in loans to third parties, R$ 174,100 in fixed-income investments, and R$ 1,000 in bank deposits. This substantial increase in declared wealth has drawn attention as he seeks a Senate seat.

As a candidate for the Senate on the Paulista right-wing ticket, Derrite is aligned with state deputy André do Prado and has secured the support of the Bolsonaro family. This political backing positions him within a prominent conservative bloc in São Paulo.

Derrite's running mates include lawyer Vicente Santini as the first alternate, who is making his electoral debut, and businessman Julio Serson as the second alternate, also a first-time candidate. Santini declared a considerable R$ 41.5 million in assets, with over half categorized as "diverse financial applications." Serson's declared assets are more modest, totaling R$ 170,100.

This marks Derrite's third attempt at federal office, having previously served as a federal deputy elected twice through proportional representation in 2018 and 2022. His registration for the Senate race signals a new chapter in his political career, aiming for a higher office within the Brazilian federal government.
