Gusau hands Nnadozie promised WAFCON house papers

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has received the official documents for the house promised to each member of Nigeria's 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the presentation on Monday, sharing a photograph of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and Director of Competitions Ruth David handing the property documents to Nnadozie.

The houses were a pledge from the Federal Government following the Super Falcons' historic victory, where they secured a record-extending 10th WAFCON title by defeating hosts Morocco. President Bola Tinubu had announced rewards including $100,000 for each player, $50,000 for backroom staff, and a house for every team member.

While the cash rewards have reportedly been paid, the housing documents' presentation marks a significant step in fulfilling the government's promises. Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, explained that the presentation was intentionally scheduled to coincide with the team's assembly for the current WAFCON tournament in Morocco. He stated that the players' cash rewards have been deposited into their bank accounts after completing administrative processes.

Dikko expressed confidence that the timely presentation would boost the team's morale as they begin their title defense against Malawi on Tuesday. Nigeria enters the 2026 WAFCON, held in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, as the defending champions and record 10-time winners.

I am leaving Glasgow for Morocco this week to present keys to the houses, which His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, promised the Super Falcons after they won the last edition of the WAFCON. Even their $100,000 has been paid into their various bank accounts. We decided to delay the presentation of the keys because we wanted a situation whereby the players would be together. I am sure it will boost their morale ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, which kicks off in Morocco in a few days.
