Gustavo Puerta: I Joined Olympiacos Because I Hate Losing

Gustavo Puerta has opened a new chapter of his career in Piraeus, officially becoming an Olympiacos player at the age of 23. The Colombian international midfielder visited Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, saw his new surroundings and dressing room, and wore the club’s red-and-white shirt for the first time.

In his first comments as an Olympiacos player, Puerta said the club’s history and success helped draw him to the move. He referred to Olympiacos’ Conference League victory as a major achievement and a sign of the club’s footballing progress.

“I am very happy to be here to help the team win more titles,” Puerta said. He added that he had spoken with people around him before making his decision, but was struck by what Olympiacos means to its supporters. He described the club as being like a member of their families.
