Haaland and Cherki score twice as Man City routs Crystal Palace 4-1

Manchester City demonstrated their title credentials with a commanding 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, securing maximum points from their second Premier League fixture.

Erling Haaland set the tone early, scoring with a header in the 17th minute. The lead was doubled in the 54th minute by Rayan Cherki, who showcased his fine form with a superb individual effort. Crystal Palace managed to pull a goal back in the 56th minute when a free-kick deflected off the post and then the back of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma into the net.

However, City's response was swift and decisive. Cherki netted his second of the game in the 59th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box, effectively sealing the victory. Haaland completed his brace in the 84th minute, slotting home after a through ball from Phil Foden, capping off a comfortable afternoon for the visitors.

This result means Manchester City maintains a perfect record with six points from two games, placing them at the summit of the league standings. In contrast, Crystal Palace has suffered two defeats from their opening two matches and is yet to register a point.
