Hajiji retracts 'crazy brain' remark against assemblyman

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has withdrawn a statement made against Kapayan State Assemblyman Chin Tek Ming during a Sabah State Assembly session. The retraction came after Hajiji's comment, recorded in the official Hansard on April 30, stated, "This lawyer but this crazy brain" when referring to Tek Ming.

Sabah Deputy Speaker Datuk Al-Hambra Tun Juhar allowed Hajiji to retract the statement before the assembly began. "I retract the statement I made in the assembly session on April 30," Hajiji said.

Yesterday, Chin Tek Ming requested Hajiji retract the statement, which he described as an insult to the dignity of a people's representative. According to the Hansard dated April 30, 2026, page 152, the statement was not related to arguments or debates but was personal. Chin stated he accepts criticism of his views presented in the assembly but cannot accept insulting remarks. He emphasized that debates in the assembly should be based on facts and arguments, not personal attacks.

Chin Tek Ming also asked the Deputy Speaker to enforce Meeting Rule 43(4) by directing the Chief Minister to unconditionally retract the statement to preserve the dignity of the Sabah State Assembly institution.
