Halkidiki: Two HEDNO contractors released pending investigation into Siviri fire

Two contractors working for the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) have been released pending the outcome of an investigation into a destructive fire in Siviri, Halkidiki. The men voluntarily presented themselves to the public prosecutor in Polygyros as part of the inquiry into the blaze. They were released on bail while the investigation proceeds and the case file is transferred from the Fire Service to the judicial authorities.

Earlier reports indicated that a case file had been compiled against the contractors responsible for vegetation clearing, as well as the HEDNO network manager. This file was created by the local branch of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes. An on-site inspection, conducted with a judicial expert, reportedly established the cause of the fire in Siviri.
