Hamburger Dom: People stranded for hours in chain carousel

An emergency operation unfolded at the Hamburger Dom funfair in Hamburg overnight, as police and fire services responded to a critical situation involving a chain carousel ride.

Around 20 passengers found themselves stranded for several hours in the chain carousel, suspended at an approximate height of 30 meters. The cause of the malfunction that led to the incident remains unclear.

Emergency crews, supported by the ride's operator, worked to devise a safe method for rescuing the stranded individuals. Specially trained height rescue teams were deployed to reach the passengers, providing them with blankets while assessing the situation.

After approximately three hours, around midnight, rescue teams managed to lower the carousel in emergency mode, safely returning all passengers to the ground. The incident caused significant disruption and required a substantial deployment of emergency resources.
