Hasselt bicycle tunnel hosts unique rave party

Hasselt's youth are celebrating in an unusual location this weekend as a bicycle tunnel on Universiteitslaan has been transformed into a rave venue. The event, organized by Oost Best vzw, marks the first time such a unique setting has been used for a rave in the Limburg region.

Organizers from Losbandig conceived the idea of hosting a party in the tunnel and have now brought it to fruition. Kenneth Godderie, one of the coordinators for Oost Best vzw, expects around 800 visitors, with the event already sold out. "This has never been done before in Limburg. We are now following cities like Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent. Having this premiere is something to be proud of," said co-organizer Mathies Wouters.

Securing permission was not straightforward. "We had to send emails and make calls to both the city and the province, as they are co-owners of the tunnel," Wouters explained. "After a conversation, we convinced them that we would showcase the location beautifully. It took some time, but all the hard work is now coming together."

It remains uncertain whether this will be a one-off event. "Let's finish this event first, then we'll see," Godderie commented. Wouters added with a wink, "We also have other very nice locations in mind. We're keeping those a secret for now."
