Residents in several parts of Perak are advised to limit their time outdoors as haze blankets the region, with one area recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 153. Teh Kok Lim, the state committee chairman for Science, Environment, and Green Technology, stated that while the haze has not reached dangerous levels, caution is necessary.

"For now, we are still awaiting further reports. However, I advise the public to reduce going out and limit outdoor activities if possible," Teh said. Initial information indicates a high API reading in Perak, though the exact location has not yet been confirmed. Sabah and Sarawak are also experiencing haze, with Sarawak's situation being more severe.

Teh noted that open burning, which is prohibited, continues to occur during dry weather. He urged the community to cooperate, emphasizing that the issue affects individual and community health.

Regarding the possibility of the haze originating from forest fires in neighboring countries, Teh mentioned ongoing cooperation to implement preventive measures. He stressed the importance of this collaboration, as environmental quality transcends national borders. For schoolchildren, the current conditions do not yet warrant specific directives.
