Head of Zondacrypto a key witness? Secret meeting of prosecutor Wełna with Przemysław Kral

Polish prosecutors are reportedly in discussions with Przemysław Kral, the head of the cryptocurrency exchange ZondaCrypto, about him potentially becoming a key witness in a major investigation. Kral has been out of reach for clients and law enforcement for three months, adding to the intrigue surrounding the case.

The investigation, initiated in mid-April by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, concerns fraud and money laundering. A separate inquiry into the disappearance of Sylwester Suszek, the founder of BitBay (ZondaCrypto's predecessor), is being handled by the national prosecutor's office. Kral has never been formally questioned in relation to Suszek's disappearance, as he has been living abroad.

Sources suggest that a secret meeting occurred between Polish authorities, including a delegation from the Central Anticorruption Bureau and Prosecutor Marek Wełna, and Kral in a Persian Gulf country. When questioned, the National Prosecutor's Office declined to provide information about the delegation's purpose or the alleged meeting with Kral.

Kral, a former lawyer who dissolved his Polish business activities before disappearing, last communicated via an X post on April 16. In it, he addressed what he termed a "politically motivated attack" on his exchange, revealing that ZondaCrypto had lost access to approximately 4.500 bitcoins, valued at $330 million. He claimed only the missing Sylwester Suszek possessed the wallet's access code, hinting that Suszek might still be alive. However, Polish prosecutors lean towards the hypothesis that Suszek is deceased, potentially murdered by criminal groups using the exchange for money laundering.

He revealed that the exchange he manages has long lost access to huge investor funds – 4.5 thousand bitcoins worth $330 million. The code to this wallet, he added, is only held by Sylwester Suszek, who has been missing for four years.
