Heartbreaking message from Gabi Mureșan's son after former footballer's death

Gabi Mureșan, a former Romanian footballer and the current mayor of Apold commune, has passed away at the age of 44. Mureșan reportedly fell ill while at a lake near his village on the night of July 8-9 and subsequently died. He was serving his second term as mayor of Apold, the commune where he grew up.

Following the news of his death, Mureșan's eldest son, 17-year-old Raul Mureșan, posted a touching message on social media. He shared a photograph of his father wearing the ASA Târgu Mureș jersey while holding the Romanian Supercup trophy. "My beloved father! You are and will remain our champion forever!" Raul wrote on Facebook, honoring his father's legacy both on and off the field.

During his football career, Mureșan played for CFR Cluj for six seasons between 2007 and 2013. He was a key player during a highly successful period for the club, winning three league titles, three Romanian Cups, and two Supercups. He also participated in European competitions, including the Champions League, with CFR Cluj. His passing marks the end of a notable chapter for Romanian football and local administration.
