Heat will continue in parts of Croatia as storms and strong winds trigger alerts

Croatia will begin the new week with sunshine, but weather alerts have been issued for several regions. The Osijek area faces a thunderstorm warning, while the Zagreb region has a wind warning.

Heat alerts are also in effect along the coast. Split has a yellow warning, while Dubrovnik has an orange warning. The national weather service, DHMZ, said daytime temperatures would mostly reach 30 to 35°C, with morning lows of 13 to 18°C inland and 21 to 26°C on the Adriatic.

The warning advises older people, young children and other vulnerable groups to take precautions because of the heat and high temperatures. The service expects mostly sunny weather on the Adriatic in the coming days, with isolated showers possible in Istria on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Inland areas could see more cloud and local thunderstorms from Monday night into Tuesday morning, with stronger storms possible in the east. Moderate to strong northerly and northwesterly winds could produce storm-force gusts on Tuesday before weakening. The Adriatic will see moderate bora winds overnight and in the morning, with stronger gusts below the Velebit mountain range.
