Weekend brings thunderstorms, with highs up to 35°C in Dalmatia

The upcoming weekend in Croatia is set to bring a dramatic shift in weather, with Saturday characterized by instability and the potential for significant thunderstorms. While sunshine will be more prevalent on Sunday, the heat is not expected to relent, with temperatures potentially soaring to 35°C in some regions.

Saturday's forecast indicates partly sunny skies mixed with variable cloud cover across most of the country. Localized showers and thunderstorms are anticipated, with the possibility of more intense downpours, particularly in the afternoon and evening in eastern Croatia. Winds will generally be light to moderate from the northeast, while coastal areas will experience southwesterly and northwesterly breezes. Daytime highs will range from 27°C to 32°C, with Dalmatia experiencing the highest temperatures, possibly reaching up to 35°C.

In central Croatia, showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially before midday, followed by longer sunny periods in the afternoon. Eastern regions will see a higher likelihood of afternoon showers, and western areas may also experience some instability. The southern Adriatic coast, particularly Dalmatia, will continue to experience hot weather, with a heatwave persisting in the far south. Nighttime temperatures in some areas might not drop below 25°C.

Sunday is expected to offer more sunshine, though the weather will not be entirely stable. Inland areas will predominantly see sunny skies with occasional moderate cloud cover, but the chance of local showers will remain. Mornings are predicted to become gradually cooler, while daytime temperatures will continue to be mostly hot. The Adriatic coast will enjoy predominantly sunny and hot conditions, with particularly high temperatures expected in the south. Light to moderate northwesterly and southwesterly winds are forecast. This general weather pattern is expected to continue into the beginning of the new week.
