Heavy Rain Advisories Issued for Three Taiwanese Counties as Cloud System Moves North

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued heavy rain advisories for several areas as a southern cloud system moves northward, bringing unstable weather conditions and the risk of short-duration intense rainfall. The advisories, issued early on July 27, specifically target the mountainous areas of Pingtung County, the Hengchun Peninsula, Taitung County, and Penghu County.

Throughout the day, the southern and eastern parts of Taiwan are expected to experience intermittent showers and thunderstorms. The Hengchun Peninsula and Taitung are particularly vulnerable to localized heavy downpours. Northern and eastern regions may see scattered showers in the early morning, while central and northern areas can anticipate localized thunderstorms in the afternoon, with a possibility of heavy downpours or short-duration torrential rain.

Temperatures will range from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius in western areas and 31 to 33 degrees in eastern regions. The public is advised to be cautious of strong ultraviolet radiation during midday and to stay hydrated. Air quality is generally good in most areas, with some northern, central, and southern regions rated as moderate.

The weather pattern is forecast to improve slightly by Tuesday, July 28, with reduced rainfall but continued moisture. Scattered showers are expected in Hualien, Taitung, and southern Taiwan, while other areas will be mostly cloudy with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Central and northern mountainous areas could experience localized heavy rain. From Wednesday, July 29, to Sunday, August 2, a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system is expected to bring more stable, sunny weather with southeast winds. Afternoon thunderstorms may still occur in mountainous areas. Temperatures will remain relatively consistent, with highs reaching 34 to 36 degrees Celsius in western areas and 32 to 34 degrees in the east.
