Heavy rain causes tree to fall, blocking Ngoạn Mục Pass road

Heavy rains in Vietnam's Khánh Hòa province on May 31 led to a large tree falling across National Highway 27, completely blocking traffic on the Ngoạn Mục Pass. The incident occurred in the Lâm Sơn commune area.

Traffic police were dispatched to the scene and have since cleared the fallen tree, reopening the road. They have also placed warning signs and stationed officers to manage traffic and alert drivers to the potential dangers posed by the weather conditions.

Road management units are on standby along other critical routes, including Khánh Lê and Khánh Sơn passes, to respond to any potential landslides. While no landslides have been reported on these passes yet, authorities are advising the public to limit travel in the affected mountainous areas.

The Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts continued scattered showers and thunderstorms for the coastal areas of Khánh Hòa, including the Trường Sa archipelago, throughout May 31. These conditions may bring localized heavy rainfall, up to 80mm, along with risks of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind up to level 7, and high waves exceeding 2 meters.
