Heavy Rain Warnings Issued for Central and Southern Taiwan; Highs to Reach 36 Degrees

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued heavy rain advisories for six counties and cities in the central and southern parts of the island. Chiayi County is warned of potential torrential downpours, while Taichung, Nantou, Changhua, Yunlin, and Chiayi City should prepare for heavy rain. These conditions are expected from early morning to late morning on the day of the report.

Despite the rain warnings, much of Taiwan will experience sunny to cloudy skies with high temperatures. Daytime highs are forecast to range from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius across the island. However, areas north of Hsinchu, near mountains in the central and southern regions, and parts of Hualien could see temperatures soar to 36 degrees Celsius or higher. The ultraviolet index is also expected to be strong near midday.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern is set to change. From Wednesday to Thursday, Taiwan will be influenced by a broad low-pressure system, bringing northeasterly to northerly winds and increased moisture. Northern Taiwan and Yilan can expect scattered showers, while other areas will be mostly cloudy to sunny with a chance of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon, particularly in the south and mountainous regions.

By Friday, the outer bands of Typhoon "Bailu" are expected to approach Taiwan, bringing localized showers to the north and scattered showers to central and southern areas. The weekend forecast, Saturday and Sunday, indicates continued influence from the typhoon and its periphery, with showers expected in northern Taiwan and central mountainous areas, potentially heavy in the north. The weather is predicted to gradually improve by the following Monday.
