Taiwan braces for Typhoon 'White Dolphin' after heatwave, with heavy rain expected in north

Taiwan is bracing for a shift in weather patterns as high temperatures persist, with forecasts indicating highs of up to 36 degrees Celsius in several regions. Throughout the week, from Tuesday to Thursday, Taiwan will be situated on the western side of a large low-pressure system, leading to increased moisture and northerly winds. While Tuesday may see isolated showers in northern coastal areas and Taipei's mountains, the rest of the island is expected to remain mostly sunny with possible afternoon thunderstorms. By Wednesday and Thursday, rainfall is predicted to increase, with northern regions facing localized showers and mountainous areas potentially experiencing heavier downpours.

The forecast for the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, anticipates the typhoon and its surrounding circulation significantly impacting the island. Northern Taiwan and the central mountains are expected to receive steady rain, with the possibility of heavy or torrential rain in northern mountainous areas. Other regions, including central and northeastern Taiwan, may also see scattered showers.
