'Heavy wave' of strikes against Iran completed - US

The United States military has concluded a "heavy wave" of strikes against Iran, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). This action marks a resumption of attacks following a lull in hostilities.

CENTCOM reported that its forces "successfully completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran in response to yesterday's attempted missile attacks on US forces." The operation targeted dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) installations, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, and coastal defense sites. The strikes reportedly lasted two hours.

Earlier, the US had characterized its actions as a "powerful response" to Iranian missiles launched toward US forces in the Middle East the previous day. The US military stated it had intercepted multiple ballistic missiles fired by Iran, describing it as an "attempted surprise attack." Iran confirmed firing on US bases in Jordan.

Following the interception of the missiles, US President Donald Trump vowed retaliation, stating, "We're going to hit them very hard." The latest wave of American strikes commenced at 8 p.m. local time and concluded at 10 p.m. local time, according to CENTCOM.

The broader conflict, referred to as the Iran war, began on February 28 with joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Iran retaliated with strikes on Israel and Gulf states hosting US bases. Subsequent US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon have led to thousands of deaths and millions of displacements.
