Helen Mirren verbally attacked in London, called 'Zionist bitch'

Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren faced a verbal assault in London's Tower Hill district when a pro-Palestinian activist approached her and her husband, director Taylor Hackford. The incident, captured on video and shared on social media, shows the man confronting the 80-year-old actress.

The activist accused Mirren of being a "Zionist bitch" and claimed she believes "Israel should last forever because of the Holocaust." Hackford intervened, telling the man to stop harassing them. Mirren, who is not Jewish or Israeli, has consistently expressed support for Israel's existence throughout her life.

Her support dates back to 1967 when she volunteered at a kibbutz in Israel. She has publicly opposed cultural boycotts of Israeli artists and signed an open letter condemning Hamas's October 7, 2023, attacks. Mirren also supported Israel's participation in Eurovision.

While promoting the film "Golda," where she portrayed Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, Mirren stated her belief in Israel's future existence. However, she also acknowledged criticizing certain Israeli government actions and expressed concern over the country's political direction. Despite pressure not to take the role due to Israel's controversial international standing, Mirren remained committed, stating she met "incredible people" in Israel.
