Henri Coandă Airport Arrivals Parking Lot Undergoes Major Modernization

The Henri Coandă Airport, a vital gateway for Romania, is undergoing a much-needed modernization of its "Sosiri" (Arrivals) parking facility. This extensive renovation, set to commence shortly, addresses significant structural issues that have developed since the parking lot's construction in 2003. While the immediate impact will be a reduction of 400 parking spaces as the upper levels are temporarily closed, this is a necessary step towards a larger vision.

The Arrivals parking lot remains open only on the ground floor; the upper floors will be temporarily closed.

Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) has assured that the works will be carried out in stages to minimize passenger inconvenience. The project includes reinforcing foundations, upgrading structural elements with seismic-resistant features, and overhauling facades and utility systems. This comprehensive approach will not only enhance safety but also prepare the airport for future expansion, aiming for a total of over 5,000 parking spaces, a new bus station, and improved check-in access.

Buses 100 and 442 will no longer stop at the Arrivals terminal.

Local commuters and travelers will need to adapt to temporary changes, including the rerouting of bus lines 100 and 442, and the relocation of ride-sharing pick-up zones to the Departures terminal. While these adjustments might cause initial disruption, they are part of a strategic plan to modernize one of Romania's key infrastructure assets. The long-term benefits of a safer, more efficient, and larger parking capacity at Otopeni airport will undoubtedly outweigh the temporary inconveniences, reinforcing its role as a modern hub for national and international travel.
