Wigwe is widely recognized for his pivotal role in transforming Access Bank from a Nigerian entity into a formidable African financial institution. His vision extended far beyond the banking sector, encompassing substantial investments in education, healthcare, and initiatives aimed at empowering young people. He firmly believed that success carried a responsibility to create opportunities for others and to foster societal progress.

Beyond his leadership at Access Bank and Access Holdings, where he served as Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, Wigwe was a key figure in discussions shaping Nigeria's banking industry and economy as Chairman of the Bankers' Committee.
