High school student saves collapsed police officer with CPR

A high school student in Busan, South Korea, has been hailed for her quick thinking and decisive action in saving the life of a police officer who collapsed on his way to work.

Jin Eon-song, a second-year student at Banyeo High School, was on her way to school on June 10 when she discovered a man collapsed on the street. Recognizing the severity of the situation, she and her mother immediately assessed the man, who was not breathing normally. Her mother began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while Jin called emergency services.

Following the instructions of the 119 emergency operators, Jin assisted in securing the scene and providing aid. During the CPR, the man regained consciousness and breathing. Jin remained by his side, offering comfort and support until the ambulance arrived.

The man was later identified as a police officer from the Haeundae Police Station. In recognition of her bravery and swift response, the Haeundae Police presented Jin with a citation and a plaque on July 21. Her school also awarded her a commendation.

Jin's actions were attributed to her keen interest in emergency medical services. She had been actively participating in a school club focused on health and medical exploration, where she learned essential emergency response techniques, including CPR.
