High summer heat makes a comeback in the south

Southern Sweden is set to experience a return of high summer temperatures, with forecasts indicating a significant warm-up starting this weekend. A high-pressure ridge is pushing temperatures upward, with local areas potentially reaching as high as 29 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Hilda Westberg from SMHI stated that while relatively high temperatures are expected by Sunday, the truly warm weather will arrive in the latter half of next week. "Then we will have temperatures of 26-27 degrees. Possibly one or two degrees higher," she said. The warmth is primarily forecast for Götaland and the eastern parts of Svealand, as well as northern Skåne and parts of Halland.

Even northern Sweden could see warmer days, with temperatures ranging from 20-25 degrees Celsius on Friday. Göteborg, which will host the Way Out West festival next weekend, appears to be under the influence of the high-pressure system. Westberg noted that while the forecast remains somewhat uncertain, the overall trend points towards high-pressure conditions, with only isolated showers possible on Friday, predominantly dry and sunny weather is expected.
