Historic Gold for Alexandri Sisters at European Aquatics Championships

Greek artistic swimmers Anna-Maria and Irini-Marina Alexandri have achieved a historic gold medal for Greece at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. The sisters claimed the top spot in the technical duet event, marking a significant return to major competitions for the nation.

Competing in the first final of the championships, the Alexandri sisters, who hail from Volos, earned a total score of 311.4308 points. This performance placed them ahead of the independent athletes Maya Dorysko and Alexandra Schmidt, who took silver with 302.9950 points. Great Britain's Olympic silver medalists secured the bronze with 297.9108 points.

This gold medal is only the second in the history of artistic swimming for Greece at the European level. It follows the national team's success in winning gold in the free team event at the 2024 European Championships held in Belgrade. The achievement underscores a period of growing success for Greek synchronized swimming on the international stage.
