HJK striker Sofia Jahnukainen joins AS Roma for significant transfer fee

Finnish football talent Sofia Jahnukainen is set to embark on a new chapter in her career, signing a multi-year contract with the renowned Italian club AS Roma. HJK, Jahnukainen's current team, confirmed the transfer and stated that the club will benefit from a substantial transfer fee for the promising striker.

Jahnukainen shared her enthusiasm for the move, describing AS Roma as one of Italy's elite clubs and a formidable force in European competition. "I have always dreamed of playing for a team like AS Roma, so it feels great to test my level there," she said in a statement. Her transfer marks a significant step in her development as a player.

The young forward joined HJK from Helsingin Palloseura for the 2025 season. During her time with HJK, she made 15 starts in the Kansallinen Liiga in 2025, scoring five goals. She has also played seven league matches in the 2026 season, starting two of them.

AS Roma boasts an impressive record, having won the Italian championship three times, including consecutive titles in the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons, and most recently in 2025–26. The club is also a regular participant in the Champions League. Jahnukainen is not the only player departing HJK this summer; Edit Mare is also leaving for the United States to pursue playing and studies at Fordham University in New York.
