Ho Chi Minh City: 7,649 residents in safe zones still awaiting health insurance cards

Ho Chi Minh City's Social Security agency is urgently requesting authorities to expedite the issuance of health insurance cards for residents living in former revolutionary safe zones. This initiative aims to ensure that these citizens receive their rightful healthcare benefits without further delay.

According to the agency, Vietnamese law designates residents of revolutionary safe zones as eligible for state-funded health insurance. Ho Chi Minh City has 19 such zones, encompassing over 1.13 million people. While many have already received their cards through other schemes, a significant number still require them under this specific policy.

Despite efforts, Phu Tho Hoa ward is facing delays, with 7,649 eligible individuals still not having their health insurance cards processed. This delay directly affects their ability to access medical examinations and treatment. The Social Security agency has completed its data review and submitted results to local authorities on time, highlighting the need for prompt action from the ward's People's Committee.

The agency has formally requested the Phu Tho Hoa People's Committee to urgently review and compile the list of eligible individuals. They are also coordinating with the social security office and local police to ensure the timely issuance of cards. Residents are advised to check their residency information on the VNeID app and their health insurance status on the VssID app, or contact their local ward office for guidance.
