Ho Chi Minh City installs cameras to combat illegal dumping along coastal dike

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are deploying security cameras along the Phuoc Hai coastal dike to tackle the persistent problem of illegal trash dumping. The initiative, a collaborative effort between the No. 2 Traffic Police Team of the HCMC Department of Traffic Police and the Phuoc Hai Commune Police, is part of a youth project focused on enhancing the cleanliness, beauty, and security of the area.

The project, titled "Green - Clean - Beautiful and Secure Phuoc Hai Dike," was launched with a ceremony on July 31. Following the launch, relevant forces participated in a cleanup operation along the dike, urging residents living nearby to raise their awareness and responsibility in maintaining environmental hygiene and refraining from littering or encroaching on the dike's buffer zones.

Officials identified key locations along the Phuoc Hai dike that are prone to security issues and illegal activities. The installation of additional security cameras in these areas is intended to strengthen intelligence gathering, prevention, detection, and timely xử lý of legal violations and social ills. Beyond the camera installation, authorities plan to maintain regular cleaning activities along the dike twice a month, specifically on Friday afternoons, to ensure the long-term preservation of its green and clean environment. The Phuoc Hai coastal dike is a popular destination for locals and tourists, known for its oyster dishes and proximity to the largest "Ca Ong" (whale) graveyard in the country, a site of reverence for local fishermen.
