Ho Chi Minh City Launches Green Campaign with Tree Planting and Waste Reduction Initiatives

Ho Chi Minh City is stepping up its environmental efforts with a city-wide campaign focused on greening urban spaces and waste reduction. The "All People Join Hands to Protect the Environment for a Green - Clean - Beautiful Vietnam" movement was launched in Xuan Hoa Ward, with local officials and residents participating in tree planting and beautification projects.

Key objectives include establishing and maintaining green spaces across all 24 residential areas, with 60 organizations and schools committing to greening their premises. The ward plans to plant 200 shade trees in parks and public facilities and launch a "Unity Garden" project. Efforts will also focus on eliminating waste hotspots and environmental pollution.

Meanwhile, An Dong Ward organized a "Walk for Development" event to support the environmental campaign. Nearly 2,000 participants, including officials and residents, joined the walk. The event also included the distribution of 50 health insurance cards to disadvantaged households, aiming to provide support and encourage them to overcome difficulties.

In Dien Hong Ward, an environmental festival featured activities like flower giveaways, fashion shows using recycled materials, and agreements to maintain street cleanliness. The ward also plans to beautify the Dao Duy Tu street area with green spaces and improved lighting. Officials stressed that environmental protection is a collective responsibility, urging all sectors and individuals to participate actively in maintaining a clean and green city.
