Ho Chi Minh City Leaders Praise PRO Vietnam's Circular Economy Achievements

Ho Chi Minh City's Chairman of the People's Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc, lauded PRO Vietnam's pioneering efforts in advancing the circular economy at the alliance's 7th annual conference. He commended the member businesses for their contributions to sustainable development, expressing surprise and admiration for the modern, durable products made from recycled materials.

"I was truly surprised to witness a chain of products made from recycled materials that are very durable and have extremely modern designs," Duoc stated. "This shows that science, technology, and innovation have clearly helped protect the environment and brought economic efficiency."

Duoc emphasized that consumer participation is key to the success of these circular economy models, urging a shift in awareness and action to transform waste into resources. He also acknowledged the leadership of PRO Vietnam's Chairman, Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, for uniting members and creating social value.

PRO Vietnam reported processing over 100,000 tons of packaging in just two years (2024-2025), demonstrating significant progress in its recycling network. The alliance also engages in social welfare activities. Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to be a livable global city, is committed to prioritizing environmental protection alongside economic growth, with the circular economy identified as a core pillar of its development strategy. The city government promised to provide the most favorable conditions for green businesses.

Pham Phu Ngoc Trai highlighted the alliance's seven-year journey in promoting circular packaging and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Vietnam. He noted that in the initial years, PRO Vietnam focused on building a cooperative foundation.
