Ho Chi Minh City must write a new, more brilliant chapter of development, says President Tô Lâm

General Secretary and President Tô Lâm has called upon Ho Chi Minh City to embark on a new era of development, aiming for a future that is "larger, more beautiful, more deserving, and more brilliant" than its past achievements.

Speaking at a ceremony commemorating 50 years since Saigon-Gia Dinh was renamed Ho Chi Minh City, Lâm lauded the city's "glorious and brilliant" history over the past five decades. He stressed that bearing the name of Ho Chi Minh carries immense honor and a profound political, ethical, and historical responsibility. The city, he stated, must lead in innovation and creativity, be dynamic yet disciplined, modern yet humane, prosperous yet compassionate, and deeply integrated internationally while preserving national identity and interests.

Lâm acknowledged the city's significant and comprehensive progress, transforming from a war-torn area into a major economic engine. He highlighted its role in driving the nation's Doi Moi (Renovation) policies, experimenting with new models, and contributing to the refinement of national strategies. Ho Chi Minh City has solidified its position as a leading economic hub, a center for finance, trade, services, technology, education, healthcare, culture, and foreign affairs.
