Ho Chi Minh City Officials Visit Con Dao Armed Forces

Officials from Ho Chi Minh City visited armed forces units stationed on Con Dao island to present gifts and acknowledge their service. The delegation, led by Duong Anh Duc, Head of the Propaganda and Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, met with four military units based in Ben Dam area.

The visit, timed to commemorate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, highlighted the armed forces' active participation in local life. These units, including a coastal missile detachment, a military depot, a border guard station, and a coast guard flotilla, are noted for integrating with the community and contributing to the island's development.

The armed forces units actively participate and harmonize with the lives of the people of Con Dao.

According to reports from Coast Guard Flotilla 33, their civil affairs efforts in the first half of 2026 were effective. They conducted outreach to over 150 fishing vessels on illegal fishing, participated in the "Island Tet" program, and cleaned the Hang Duong Cemetery. Notably, the flotilla successfully escorted individuals and over 1,000 kg of crystal methamphetamine from Con Dao back to regional command, ensuring absolute safety.

Duong Anh Duc praised the armed forces' achievements and their active role in harmonizing with the lives of Con Dao's residents. He emphasized their contribution to building and protecting Con Dao as a "green island." The delegation also visited 11 other armed forces units on the island, reinforcing the connection between the city's leadership and its military presence in the special administrative region.
