Ho Chi Minh City pushes land clearance for 10-lane National Highway 22 expansion

Ho Chi Minh City authorities are intensifying efforts to clear land for the ambitious expansion of National Highway 22, which will transform the route into a 10-lane thoroughfare.

The project, designated as a key and urgent infrastructure undertaking, is crucial for connecting the city to the Moc Bai international border gate in Tay Ninh province. It will also integrate with other developing routes like the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, and Ring Road 4, enhancing regional connectivity within ASEAN.

The expansion of National Highway 22 is a key and urgent project.

Despite the project's importance, land clearance remains a challenge. In Ba Diem commune, out of 264 affected cases, 220 have agreed to hand over their land. However, 44 households are still refusing to cede their property, including those renting space for residence or business. The commune has urged these individuals to relocate and return the land by August 10, 2026, to maintain the project's schedule.

The 8.7-kilometer section from An Suong intersection to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is slated for expansion to 60 meters wide, accommodating 10 lanes. The project, with an estimated investment of over 10,400 billion VND (approximately $400 million USD), is scheduled for completion in 2028. Seven overpasses will be constructed at key intersections along the route.

Please urgently relocate assets and hand over the site to the state for the construction of component project 1: Compensation, support, resettlement and relocation of infrastructure to serve the renovation and expansion of National Highway 22 (now Le Quang Dao street), passing through Ba Diem commune.
