Ho Chi Minh City to Start Metro Line 2 Tunneling in August 2027

Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to commence tunneling operations for its ambitious Metro Line 2 project, with the first Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) scheduled to be deployed in August 2027. This marks a significant step forward for the vital urban transit initiative.

The project will see two TBMs begin their work at the planned stations of Pham Van Bach and Le Thi Rieng. The commencement of tunneling follows the successful completion of geological surveys along the entire 11.3-kilometer route of the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong line, ensuring the groundwork is laid for safe and efficient construction.

Metro Line 2 is a critical component of the city's public transportation development plan, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and improving connectivity across the sprawling metropolis.
