Ho Hsin-chun registers Taichung mayoral bid, invites Tsai Ing-wen and Tsai Chi-chang to lead campaign

Ho Hsin-chun formally registered her candidacy for Taichung mayor alongside Democratic Progressive Party legislative caucus leader Tsai Chi-chang, presenting the campaign as a united push toward victory.

Ho and Tsai made heart signs together at the registration table. Ho later helped Tsai put on the vest identifying him as the head of her campaign headquarters, and announced that he would serve as campaign director. She also said former President Tsai Ing-wen had agreed to become honorary chair after Ho and Tsai visited her.

Ho, Tsai and 30 other councilor candidates affiliated with the DPP’s Taichung factions completed registration for the mayoral and city council elections. Ho’s own registration took place at 11 a.m. at the Fengle Sculpture Park Activity Center in Nantun District. She briefly had to wait after forgetting her identity card.

Ho said she had walked through and visited all 625 communities in Taichung. Residents, she said, had pointed to gaps in regional balance, industrial and economic development, and the city’s governance capacity. She pledged to build a prosperous Taichung with the scale of a capital and prepare the city to become an internationally oriented metropolis for the next generation.
