Hoi An to launch distinctive tour through Cam Thanh coconut forest

A new tour at Hoi An’s Cam Thanh coconut forest will invite visitors to “Return to Cam Thanh, Hear the Coconut Tell Its Story.” The planned route will build on the existing basket-boat experience while adding traditional crafts, folk performances and a closer look at life in the river country.

Le Cong Sy, director of the public service center in Hoi An Dong Ward, said organizers were completing a stage, performance facilities and a reception building before the route’s launch. Visitors will be able to explore the nipa palm ecosystem, learn about bamboo and coconut crafts, make products from nipa palm and watch performances including ba trao, cầu ngư, fishing-net dances, basket-boat dancing, bai choi, folk songs and hò khoan.

Organizers are also completing a master layout, exhibition space, craft demonstration house, reception area and other experience points. They plan to use bamboo, coconut, wood and nipa palm leaves so the facilities blend with the surrounding landscape.

The route is expected to open in November 2026. Its central feature will be the connection between nature, local culture, folk art, traditional occupations and the community, giving visitors an alternative to the forest’s current basket-boat tours.

Visitor numbers have continued to rise, bringing higher ticket revenue. Annual revenue stood below 20 billion dong before COVID-19, reached about 37 billion dong in 2025 and is expected to reach 40 billion dong in 2026.
