Honda HR-V Gets New Model Year Update in Taiwan

Honda's popular domestically produced HR-V crossover is gearing up for a refresh, with details emerging from Taiwan's Ministry of Environment's noise database. The upcoming 2027 model year is set to receive updates designed to bolster its competitive edge in the local market.

The HR-V will continue to be available with two powertrain options: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine paired with a CVT, delivering 121 horsepower and 14.8 kg-m of torque with an average fuel consumption of 16.3 km/L. The e:HEV hybrid variant, operating on an "electricity-first, gasoline-second" principle, offers a combined output of 131 horsepower and 25.5 kg-m of torque, boasting an impressive average fuel economy of 23.5 km/L.

Sources within domestic dealerships suggest that the exterior design will see minimal changes. Instead, the focus will be on adjusting the equipment list to introduce fresh appeal. This strategy aims to keep the HR-V relevant and attractive amidst a competitive landscape of domestically produced crossover SUVs.

Globally, Honda has indicated that a full redesign of the HR-V, known as the Vezel in Japan, is anticipated around 2028, with a potential minor facelift before then. However, the immediate future for the Taiwanese market centers on this upcoming model year enhancement, ensuring the current generation remains a strong contender.
