Honda Korea Launches Retro-Styled CB1000F Motorcycle

Honda Korea is introducing the CB1000F naked motorcycle to the South Korean market, aiming to broaden the appeal of motorcycling in the country. The launch event, held in Seongnam, highlighted the bike's blend of classic design and modern performance.

The CB1000F draws its design DNA from the iconic CB750F, which was a prominent model in the North American AMA Championship series in the 1980s. This retro styling is complemented by a contemporary 1000cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine, derived from the CB1000 Hornet platform, and enhanced with advanced equipment. Honda Korea CEO Lee Ji-hong described the CB1000F as having impressive ride stability and being easy for even beginner riders of mid-class bikes to handle.

The motorcycle's design emphasizes dynamic lines and a harmonious blend of retro aesthetics with modern functionality. Features like a circular LED headlight and a megaphone-style muffler contribute to its distinct identity. Under the hood, the 1000cc engine produces 124 horsepower at 9000 rpm and 10.5 kg·m of torque at 8,000 rpm. Honda has optimized the engine for improved torque and throttle response in the low to mid-range, making it user-friendly for daily riding, while still delivering strong power at higher RPMs.

Handling and safety are key selling points. The CB1000F boasts excellent maneuverability and stable performance, with a low seat height of 795mm for better ground reach. It incorporates Showa SFF-BP upside-down front forks and Nissin brake systems for superior road grip and braking. Advanced safety features include cornering ABS controlled by a 6-axis IMU, throttle-by-wire, Honda Selectable Torque Control, and an assist & slipper clutch. Riders can choose from five riding modes: Standard, Sport, Rain, User 1, and User 2.

Priced at 15.98 million won, the CB1000F has already garnered significant interest, with over 100 pre-orders. Honda Korea emphasized the extensive consideration given to its pricing, reflecting a commitment to offering a compelling package.
