Hospital de Clínicas calls for children for free trauma surgeries

The Hospital de Clínicas is calling for applications for its second "Together, we give a chance for a better life" campaign, aiming to provide free orthopedic surgeries for children in need. This initiative specifically targets boys and girls between the ages of 1 and 15 who come from vulnerable backgrounds and cannot afford the urgent surgical procedures they require.

The Unidad de Ortopedia Pediátrica at the hospital is leading the campaign, which seeks to improve not only the physical health and mobility of young patients but also their overall development. Dr. Akira Kikuchi, head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology department, emphasized that these interventions are crucial for enabling children to integrate fully into their school and social lives without limitations.

This year's campaign is made possible with the support of ABSA Import, a company that has committed to donating all specialized surgical supplies and materials needed for the operations. The application period is open until August 16, which is celebrated as Children's Day. Families interested in participating must meet specific criteria, including having a prior order for materials from the Pediatric Orthopedics Unit and lacking the funds for purchase, or having a formal medical indication for a traumatological surgery that has been delayed due to financial constraints.
