Three missing children found in Ypané, location alert lifted

A search for three missing children in Acahay, Paraguay, concluded successfully when they were located in the Ypané district, according to the National Police's Specialized Department for the Search and Location of Missing Persons. The children, two brothers aged 11 and 10, and their 10-year-old cousin, had reportedly been throwing stones at houses in the 15 de Agosto neighborhood. Following complaints from residents, the minors were taken to the Acahay police station. The Public Defender's Office for Children and Adolescents of Quiindy, led by Gloria Torres, had urgently activated search protocols after their whereabouts became unknown. Officials from the Search and Location Department and the local CODENI (Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents) in Ypané found the three minors. Adriana Villalba, head of Ypané's CODENI, communicated the situation to public defender Gloria Torres. According to initial reports, an official document was signed stating the minors were released to a functionary, but Villalba denied this, asserting the children remained at the police station. This discrepancy prompted the immediate activation of search mechanisms. Investigators located the children at the home of an older brother of two of the minors in Ypané. The brother stated the children were not missing and routinely stayed at various relatives' homes before returning home during the day. The circumstances under which the children traveled alone from Acahay to Ypané remain unclear. The case will now be handled by the public defender in Ypané.
