House Burner of Judge Khamozaro Waruwu Sentenced to 6 Years

Fahrul Azis Siregar has been sentenced to six years in prison for intentionally burning down the home of Medan City District Court Judge Khamozaro Waruwu. The court found Siregar guilty of a crime that inflicted trauma, fear, and financial losses exceeding hundreds of millions of rupiah on the victim.

Presiding Judge Sulhanuddin stated that while the prosecution sought seven years, the sentence was reduced due to Siregar's admission of guilt and his pledge to refrain from further offenses. The judge emphasized that the defendant's actions had disturbed the community and harmed the victim. Siregar accepted the verdict and will not appeal.

The court determined Siregar violated multiple articles of the new Criminal Code, including those related to arson and property damage. The incident occurred on November 4, 2025, when Siregar entered Waruwu's home, stole gold worth over IDR 200 million, and then set fire to the house. He was assisted by three other individuals, including accomplices and a gold fence.

Following the verdict, Judge Waruwu stated he had met Siregar in detention and forgiven him. Waruwu was presiding over a corruption case involving a road project in North Sumatra, which had drawn public attention and led to speculation about a connection to the arson. However, police attributed the crime to personal motives. A relative of the judge noted that Siregar, who had been the judge's driver since 2021, had disappeared for two weeks prior to the incident, leading Waruwu to drive himself.
